Product Description:
Winner of the American Library Association's Best Book for Young Adults Award.

From acne to emotions, healthy eating to stress-prevention, the teenage years are absolutely full of new challenges for young people; but help does exist, if you know where to look.

The Teenage Body Book
by Kathy McCoy, PhD and Charles Wibbelsman, MD provides a vast source of useful information, advice, and resources to help teenagers deal with many of the new, sometimes troubling situations that they face in their formative years.

For many young people, the teenage years are lonely; often teenagers are hesitant to turn to their parents for advice, especially when they are engaged in risky behaviors. This can lead to a feeling of isolation, and is often accompanied by open rebellion from parents and role models. Teens have traditionally blundered through, sometimes seeking advice in unusual places, and believing misconceptions about themselves, others, and their actions.

The Teenage Body Book
provides an indispensable resource for any teen with questions about their bodies, their feelings, the new stresses they face in daily life, or even making healthy lifestyle choices; it provides concrete solutions to important problems a teen may face, and emphasizes reaching out for help to parents and adults when it is needed.

Winner of the American Library Association's Best Book for Young Adults Award, this groundbreaking guide is now fully completely expanded and updated for the internet generation, The Teenage Body Book teaches boys and girls how to:

■ Overcome body image worries and maintain a healthy weight

Say no to drugs, drinking, smoking, and peer pressure

Cope with depression, anxiety, and stress

Avoid sexually transmitted diseases and teen pregnancy

Stay safe in cyberspace, and more

Reviewed by an all-new panel of 15 teens from around the country, The Teenage Body Book is sure to help any teen cope with one of life's most challenging, exciting, and troubling times.

Teens yesterday face more choices and opportunities than ever before, and it is increasingly important that they have acess to healthy options and lifestyle information. The Teenage Body Book focuses on providing useful, honest, and relatable advice for teens of the Internet generation.

The Teenage Body Book can help answer questions and provide advice when teens may be too embarrassed to talk to an adult directly, as well as serve as a useful starting point for both parents and teens who want to discuss almost anything pertaining to the teenage years.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Every Teen Should Read It and Their Parents, Too
The Teenage Body Book: A New Edition for a New Generation should be read by every teen and their parents, too. The teen-age years are difficult for most teens (and their parents). I should know, with four former teens. They all have told me they benefited so much from the original Teenage Body Book. But this new edition really suits this new generation of teens who face some even more traumatic issues than those a generation before them. They get great advice for yesterday plus the sage counsel from the original book. It's beautifully and sensitively written in a very clear style -- and never preachy. The best single piece of advice I ever received as a parent of teens came from a middle-school principal who counseled: "Never lose your sense of humor." The Teenage Body Book provides teens with similar sound counsel, emphasizing that teens can handle the tumultuous teen years by recognizing that they're not alone with all of the physical and emotional changes they're going through; all teens are going through the same issues. My youngest daughter, now a junior high teacher, says the original book really helped her during her teen years. I gave her this new edition and she says she uses it often to help her know how to talk to students more intelligently when they ask about particular teenage issues she thinks she can talk with them about.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - The Teenage Body Book
The Teenage Body Book is fantastic. It is well written and would appeal to the average teenager. The information is upfront and straight forward giving both teenagers and parents insight into teenage issues and providing information that is extremely helpful and informative. I don't know of any book that is so comprehensive and answers and alleviates any concerns that a growing teenager may want to know about their bodies and how to deal with social issues that arise during these years of "enlightenment."

It also provides a parent with a tool to approach any issue that may be difficult to talk to a teenager about. It is valuable in that it informs teenagers about things that they need to know to make wise choices in their growing years. Ignorance gets people into trouble. This book bridges that gap and prepares teens for the world out there. It also gives them assurance that they are normal and can feel comfortable about their uniqueness and also their normalcy in a world that is full of erroneous ideas. I highly recommend this book for teenagers, parents, and any professional dealing with teen issues.
