Product Description:
'Those with a taste for the balance and humour of Austen will find a worthy companion volume.'-Book News

The weddings are over.

The guests (including millions of readers and viewers) wish the two happy couples health and happiness. As the music swells and the credits roll, two things are certain: Jane and Bingley will want for nothing, while Elizabeth and Darcy are to be the happiest couple in the world!

The couples' personal stories of love, marriage, money, and children are woven together with the threads of social and political history of nineteenth century England. As changes in industry and agriculture affect the people of Pemberley and the neighboring countryside, the Darcys strive to be progressive and forward-looking while upholding beloved traditions.

Rebecca Ann Collins follows them in imagination, observing and chronicling their passage through the landscape of their surroundings, noting how they cope with change, triumph, and tragedy in their lives.

'A lovely complementary novel to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Austen would surely give her smile of approval.'
-Beverly Wong, author of Pride & Prejudice Prudence

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - It started out so romantic..... but then was devastating!
This book started out so romantic with the love and passion Darcy and Lizzy have for one another as well as bringing in Jane and Bingley and the Gardiners. (The only true flaw is that Miss Austen herself says Mary Bennet marries but not in this series.) However I was silly to think they should have an entirely happy ending, I guess I was naive but if you feel the same way and you like the happily ever after, then do not read this book! Near the end a tragedy occurs that devastate several of the families, if not all. I cried for two days but then I read the second book The Women of Pemberly, which was not sad and very good and it made me feel as ease. That at least Lizzy and Darcy's love had withstood the trial and had grown. So if you do get this book I recommend the second book too. But I see no reason for the others after.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - A lovely companion
I was somewhat septical that Ms. Collins would due justice to the characters of Pride and Prejudice but I was wrong. This is a delightful book that has the flavor of Jane Austen's best book. Ms. Collins has a flair for description and she really takes me to the places her characters inhabit. I will definatly be buying the other volumes in her series. I would recommend you to try this book I believe you will be just as suprised and delighted by the book.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - AustenFan
The story is written at the 5000 feet level. It follows the lives of the main characters in Austen's original book and then their children, but it doesn't safisfy. The Darcy, Bingley and Gardiner children are all good and hardly anything bad happens to them because of their poor judgement or rebellion. It seems too perfect. I like the story well enough to keep and read again.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Loved it
Although this book was quite a history lesson, I loved it and can't wait for the rest of the series. So many of the JA sequels follow the same predictable story line, that I found all of the added characters and history fascinating! The only thing I didn't like, is that Georgiana's story line (and in the 2nd book even more) is very limited. But I loved the expanded story line with the Gardiners. This is a series worth getting into! But be warned, it is not a light or short read. But I do feel that this book is very realistic and is probably a much closer depiction of what their lives would be like than many of the sappy/trashy sequels out there.

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - The author is missing the point.
The book is long and, for the most part, very boring. The author needs to realize that the reason we read Pride & Prejudice sequels is to get more Darcy & Lizzie. There is very little of them in this book or in The Women of Pemberly. Both are full of so many characters we can barely keep track of them. There is also a lot of political BS which detracts from the book. There is very little in either book that is interesting. I'm not going to bother reading the rest unless the author wants to write and tell me she's seen the light and the others have a lot more Lizzy & Darcy and are actually interesting.
