From the supplier: Democracy has fought the economic and social problems resulting from capitalism. Capitalism has fueled the globalization of trade which in turn brought about the marginalization of countries which were not able to keep pace with the production of other countries. The absence of a central government or monitoring agency to regulate international trade practices has made countries dependent on multilateral trade talks such as the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). However, the global competition will continue to hurt industries in developing countries.
