From the pub gigs of summer 1964 to the group's triumphant performance at Live 8 in summer 2005, this book traces the progress of The Who from sharp-suited mods to psychedelic stars and pioneers of the rock opera. This book includes stunning images of the Who's festival appearances at Monterey and the Isle of Wight, as well as shots from performances at such diverse venues as the Marquee Club and Wembley Stadium.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - (Rex) Classic Collection of Who Photos
A thoroughly impressive collection of superb-quality photos of one of the sixtie's and rock 'n' roll's seminal rock groups. From their early mod beginnings right through to their post-millenium world tours, the Rex Collections photographic treatment of The Who's history should be a collector's item for all serious fans of The Who.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Heavy on the early years, thin on the rest
This collection was a bit of a disappointment for me. As the cover displayed on the product info is a 70's era shot, I expected this book to cover that time frame. The book I received has a cover shot from 1965 and better reflects the content of the book. The very first 93 pages cover 1964-June 1967, but only 40 pages cover the following ten years, for me the height & most interesting stage of The Who's career. The last 23 pages cover the Kenny era to the present.

The photos themselves are excellent quality and large on the page. Some are often-seen favorites; quite a few are ones I haven't seen before, sometimes alternate shots from familiar sessions/shows. I have no argument with the quality of the book; it just doesn't have the material I was looking for. If you prefer early-era Who, this is the book for you.
