User popularity level: out of 5 stars

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - Cheap Trick
The book was not great but at least it was mildly entertaining...until I got to the ending and that totally ruined it. That ending was a cheap trick by the author(s) and an insult to the reader's intelligence. A good mystery writer would never do this. It made the entire reading experience a big waste of time.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Great Thriller
Great Book from James Patterson. First couple of chapters are a little slow, but they give you the picture for what's going to happen next, and the ending, WOW! The ending was so unexpected I needed to go back and re-read to make sure I didn't miss something. I highly recommend this book to the thriller lovers.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Hard to Put Down Thriller with Plenty of Twists and Turns
In the exclusive Beach Road section in East Hampton, New York, movie star T. Smitty Wilson has a regulation basketball court on his property and though he is often not home, he lets his friends -- and he has many, from ex-NBA players to promising high school and college players -- use his court. These games are often heated, as the players take the game very seriously.

High School player Dante Halleyville is a bright prospect expected to get a mega bonus when he graduates. He can play with the best of them and during a game with Tom Dunleavy, a former athelete who is now a defense attorney, Michael Walker is going in for a basket and a fight breaks out. Dunleavy tries to break it up, Walker pulls a gun, Dunleavy calms him down. This is basketball taken a little too seriously.

Later three of the players in that game are found murdered execution style, then Walker is also found dead and a gun is found with Halleyville's prints on it. Dunleavy thinks Halleyville is innocent, but he's not the best lawyer for the job, so he partners with an old girlfriend named Katherine Costello. Together they start sifting and digging into all the evidence they can find of the two shootings and as usual in all James Patterson books things are not what they seem. Twists, turns and danger abound in this thriller you'll be hard put to put down.

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - Great story, bad last few chapters
I couldn't but this book down. It kept me reading and I was so eager to read the subsequent page. I liked everythin about it until the end.. Come on...Every thing i loved about the book Didn't make sence after i ready the last chapters. I think they tried to hard for a Shocking endng that the messed the whole thing up.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - I loved this book!
I usually pride myself on being able to figure out the "culprit" before the end of the book; I was quite surprised!
I personally like that James Patterson writes short chapters because I can put the book down at the end of a chapter.....or if I want to read a little more, the subsequent chapter won't be very long either.
I've passed this book along to friends and they were as surprised as I was at the ending.
