Editor's Notes and Comments:
Product Description:
The acclaimed metaphysical epic that binds together the cosmological phenomena of our time, ranging from crop circles to quantum theory to the resurgence of psychedelic drugs, to support the contention of the Mayan calendar that the year 2012 portends a global shift-in consciousness, culture, and way of living-of unprecedented consequence.

After reading the overblown hyperbole of the 'product description' and letting the gag reflex settle down I have to say for the record I cannot believe so many people are taken in by this grifter whose angle is directly aimed at the visionary,ayahuasca,2012 crowd.
It is so clearly a case of the Emperor's New Clothes with Pinchbeck determined to create himself a new age empire. You think not? This quote from Pinchy himself on RealSanLtd...'We aren't charging for this and I ask that you buy my old book and soon,my new one...FREQUENTLY' Obviously Daniel is not yet to enter the new paradigm until he's milked the old one dry.
Do not support this crass commercialisation of spirituality, prophecy and the desire for transcendence.I'd call him McKenna lite but that would be an insult to Terence.

Interesting, full of information. Very intellectual at times, especially some of the writers he is quoting e.g. William Irwin Thompson (who speaks like that?) so I could not follow every sentence, but thats ok because I was getting the gist. Really loved the personal journey aspect. He has managed to be attracted to the major players in his quest, especially regarding crop circles and the South American ayahuasca trail... Pinchbeck is definitely "connected" and I am glad to have connected with his writing.

This is an interesting book compared to other 2012 material out there, as it allows you the chance to "break open the head" and enter the mind of an intellectual person yearning to learn more about himself, life, mysticism, cynicism and - last but not least - how all of this fits into the Mayan end date of December 21, 2012.
Feeling at times that our life-paths have taken similar directions (we've probably even bumped into each other at Burning Man and were both writing books about 2012 at the same time) I was intrigued by many of Pinchbeck's ideas as to what "the return of Questzalcoatl" might really mean. He articulates his theories well and builds a strong case that a paradigm shift is currently underway regarding the evolution of human consciousness.
There does seem to be some dissonance between a future ideology based on the movement away from "Ego to We-go" and his own rather ego-centric place in this new paradigm, but hey, that just proves he's a human being struggling with the same ego issues we all battle. In the end, Pinchbeck's book represents a micro version of what is happening on the macro level for all humanity as we hurtle toward 2012. Highly recommended.

This book is nicely written and interesting. I agree that there are things going on that we do not understand. I do agree that something will happen in 2012 as far astrological alignments are concerned. Whether or not they are for the good or bad. That is to be determined. I personally think this author has done too much acid. This book as nothing really to do with Quetzalcoatl at all. He talks primarily about crop circles and his relationship with his childs mother going down the drain due to drugs. I think this book is his own healing process.

I bought it thinking it was going to be interesting - it is hard to read because it is so bad.
My father picked it up and read a few pages and had to put it down because it was so bad.
Don't waste your time or money - not really about 2012, more about the author and whatever ego/mind trip he was on.
