Editor's Notes and Comments:

Product Description:
Some refer to the early to mid-1960s as the Golden Age of baseball in Los Angeles. Not only did Tommy Davis, a Dodger from 1959-66 who was an integral part of two World Series championship teams, have the best seat in the house, the two-time All-Star left-fielder who twice led the National League in hitting was also the Dodgers' silent superstar. Relive exciting Dodger Blue memories from games at the oval-shaped Coliseum to the opening of Dodger Stadium as Davis recounts the fun and satisfaction of the championship seasons of 1963 and 1965 to the disappointment and sorrow of the team's famous collapse of 1962 and his career-altering ankle injury. Davis, along with several former teammates and Los Angeles Times sportswriter Paul Gutierrez, takes the reader on the field and into the clubhouse with his Tales from the Dodgers Dugout.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Golden Dodger Memories
As a teenager in the early 1960s, I was a diehard Los Angelos Dodger fan. The Dodgers of the 1960s were the post Jackie Robinson era team that created a history and culture of its own. They were a group of young men who were living the dream of playing major league baseball in sunny southern California. Up until this time, Baseball was basically an eastern phenomenon. The Dodgers' move from Brookly NY to Los Angelos in 1957, created a romantic golden age in Baseball anchored in this paticular team. Tommy Davis, the author was a young outfielder who, in this book, captures the essence of this team and its unique personalities. If you were ever a Dodger fan from this era, this book is a must read because it provides the feeling of what "Dodger Blue" was all about. Overall, the book is well done. Toward the end, the sequencing left a lot to be desired. However, all of the stories, lore and excitement come through in concise clarity.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - A must read!
This book is a collection of fond memories, hindsight perspectives and intimate behind-the-scenes tales from the Dodgers' dugout during the late 1950s and early 1960s.

Paul Gutierrez is a great writer and seasoned reporter!

This book is a quick read (even for non-sports fans) and very much detail-oriented (that Gutierrez definitely put time and effort into this book).

I read this book over the course of a week and enjoyed it so much I almost felt compelled to write the author (LOL).

Recommended.
