Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - love this sequel
I have read many many P & P sequels. Some are too dry, some are too mushy, but this one is just right. Darcy and Lizzie are like friends I don't want to live without and, to that end, I read the sequels. I hope Ms. Jeffers continues writing more of their story and soon!!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Couldn't put it down
I enjoyed Miss Jeffers very first book, so I was excited to read the sequel and am so glad that I did.

Newly married and with a child on the way, Darcy loses his memory. For him time has reversed to before his father's death. You can imagine the problems, but Miss Jeffers handles it well by plaguing the man with passionate dreams about his wife.

This is one book that has made it my re-read shelf in my bookcase!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - One of the best sequels
It's really a shame Jeffers hasn't been picked up by a major publishing company yet, as I'm sure her very first book (Darcy's Passions) has sold well and been well-reviewed. I wasn't such a fan of it because it was yet another retelling of Pride and Prejudice and to be honest I'm getting a little sick of them, but I was eager to see more work from her, and was pleasantly surprised.

Plot spoilers ahead: The basic plot begins with Elizabeth discovering, about 4 months or so into their marriage, that she's pregnant. Georgiana becomes involved with an abolitionist (slavery has been outlawed in Britain at this time but not in the colonies) and one of his enemies becomes her enemy as well. While investigating this, Darcy is attacked on the road and injured, and loses his memory. A tired plot device that Jeffers reuses with skill, at very first creating a plotline about the scheming woman who finds him, then having his recovery be marred by the fact that he has no memories past his father's death when he does recover some. He can remember his PASSION for Elizabeth in his dreams, but cannot reconcile it with the wife he does not know.

The result is a complex reckoning and sort of re-courtship of Elizabeth and Darcy. Darcy is marred by his own frustrations and the fact that his clearest memories of his father are those about the importance of family duty and honor, the things that prevented Darcy from immediately marrying Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice in the very first place. Elizabeth and the rest of the cast deal with it the best they can, but it's not a situation that can be solved except with intense emotional development that takes time and effort.

The cons to this book are the usual ones I have with Pride and Prejudice sequels (an uninteresting reformed Kitty plot, though the author does a good job with the material), some political stuff (but not too much), a few silly sex scenes, and everyone acting too dreamy when things are going too well. One of my problems with Xlibiris's layout is that the lines are very wide and long and you have to open the book wide to read it, which was a problem with the original, but it was probably done to keep the page count down to keep the price down. It is a little expensive, but there's a lot of material here, and I think it's worth the price.
