Product Description:
Love hurts.
FBI agent Kelly Feinman knows this is true. While she is recovering from an attack by a serial killer called the “Acid Man,” her husband leaves her. Physically and emotionally scarred by the murderer, Kelly feels she will never be the same. She is cut off not only from her husband and child, but also from her fellow FBI agents, who see her as a rogue for going after the Acid Man alone.

Love is hell.
Matt Connor knows this is true. His love for his girlfriend, Amy, is so intense that he feels he is in heaven when he is with her. When Amy leaves him for another man, Matt is shattered. In agony, he plans a diabolical scheme that very first calls for him to disappear from the face of the earth. His revenge will make Amy wish she had never been born.

Love can heal.
Matt's act of vengeance puts him in charge of Amy's infant son. He discovers a soothing warmth in Jimmy's eyes that makes him wonder if Amy's betrayal truly merited wrecking the child's life. Yet Matt's heart cannot be made whole until he has won Amy back.

Kelly cannot be made whole until she understands the depth of evil that lurks behind the Acid Man. Ironically, to rid herself and the world of her nemesis, she must seek out Matt Connor, a wanted man she has been ordered to bring to justice.

In Falling, Christopher Pike explores the depth and breadth of human emotion through two brilliantly etched characters: Kelly Feinman, who pays a terrible price to understand the nature of true evil, and Matt Connor, a classic antihero who captures the listener's sympathy. The listener is drawn deeply into the hearts and minds of these two people, who almost against our will force us to face our deepest fears. It is that power that makes Falling impossible to forget.

Customer Reviews
User popularity level: out of 5 stars

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - Letdown
While the premise for the novel is fairly intriguing, the plot was predictable and trite at times. There were holes all throughout the novel, especially towards the end. It seems Mr. Pike decided that all he needed to do was establish his characters in the beginning and any major flaws he created later would go unnoticed by the generally adoring fans.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Good Story
Good story, but not as compelling as some of Pike's other works. The characters are a little too over the top.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Pike does it again!
I grew up reading Pike's books and I have yet to read one that didn't blow me away. This was no exception. The intricate detail in the plot, the twists and turns, really keep you from figuring it all out until it's there. I love the two main characters as well. Matt makes the perfect anti-hero, a villain you'll root for throughout the book. And Kelly makes for a great, flawed agent. I couldn't put this book down and honestly don't understand the bad reviews! This book was excellent and I highly recommend it!

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - What's with the repeat plot lines lately???
Ahh, I am getting so frustrated with Pike's books lately! I loved this author so much in high school, both his YA and adult books, esp Season of Passage, Gimme a Kiss, See You Later, Fall Into Darkness, etc etc.
What's frustrating to me is that I know Pike can come up with truly original, interesting, spellbinding characters and stories. But his last two adult books are blatant reworkings of earlier YA books. Blind Mirror has strong similarities to Spellbound and Lost Mind and his latest, Falling, distinctly reminds me of Fall into Darkness and Gimme a Kiss and even The Listeners somewhat.
Pike does have similar themes in many of his books--spiritulism, weird lizard creatures, body hopping. It's not the very first time I've noticed this, but I really want to see something new from Pike. He will always be one of my favorites and I will read anything new that he puts out, but I'm starting to lose some enthusiasm here.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Pike FTW
I just finished the book, had spent the entire weekend engrossed in it. I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
