Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - no trial for this reader
A highly-entertaining read for people who can stomach Mr. Darcy using the "f" word on a regular basis and multiple, detailed sex scenes in this modern retelling of our beloved P & P. Strong character and story development. Compelling reading for the modern Janeite.

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - This was so bad that I had to stop reading it
Maybe someday when I am desperate and all other written word has been banished from the land I might finish it. But even then, I doubt it.

Dont get me wrong, I am not a Jane loyalyst. I love Abigail Reynolds and Kara Louise's alterations. This book went on waaaaaay to long, the characters were immature versions of themselves and I found myself hating Elizabeth Bennett and wondering why Judge Darcy would bother. The conflict in thier relationship was self-imposed and easily resolved yet it went on for 200 pages. And honestly, Elizabeth sounded more like a 15 year old.

Seriously dont waste your time. There is much better stuff out there if you are into P&P. Plus its pretty pricey, as are all P&P variations.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - I may need to scrub my brain but it was worth it!
This book faithfully employs the Regency technique of snappy dialogue but does less so when it comes to chaste interactions between romantic leads. If the idea of Elizabeth, Darcy and white hot monkey love appeals to you, this book friggin' rocks. If not, holy crapcakes, please walk away.
This and "Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife" has profoundly derailed my plans to revisit the western canon this summer. I laughed out loud; the author has a great ear for dialogue, descriptive language and, oh yeah, realistic sex scenes. OMG: a romantic scene that acknowledges the clitoris. Thank you. Ms. Angelini (if that is your real name): Do. Not. Stop. Writing.
LOVED this book.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - I couldn't put it down
This book is very hot. I loved it. Darcy is wonderful. Once I started it, I couldn't do anything else until I finished it...no television...no other entertainment until I read it completely. I lent it to a friend and now I wish I still had it so I could read it again and again.

So, when is Sara Angelini going to write another book? I keep coming back, but as far as I can tell, this is her only book.

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - Disappointing
I think this was an ambitious effort, and not without entertainment value, certainly. However, I was very overwhelmed with difficulties in the story. How is an Englishman a judge in the US Courts? Maybe the author has an explanation, but I cannot recall it in the story and, as an attorney, that bothered me.

Also, it was overwhelmingly sexual, in a way that seems entirely inconsistent with the writings of Jane Austen. Of course Austen's characters would have sex, and modernizing them almost ensures that sex will play a role in the story. However this story was simply too much for this reader's sensibilities.

For readers looking for the feel of Austen, I'd skip this and read Drive and Determination, a far more Austenesque effort.
