Product Description:
After Liv was born, her mother died. Liv’s father, Mark, simply handed her over to his own mother—and left. Now Liv’s beloved Gran has died. Liv has to leave New York to live with her father in California, where he dives for abalone. It is a disaster. Mark isn’t the talking type, and Liv cannot forgive him for abandoning her. Samantha, his girlfriend, has to serve as go-between. Then Mark’s “tender”—the man responsible for his lifeline when he dives—breaks his arm, and Liv takes his place. Now she literally has control over her father’s life, and once they head out to sea, there is no turning back....

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Tender
The book I just read was Tender. I would recommend this book to anyone because it is one of my favorite books. It's about this girl Olivia who dresses in all grey and judges everybody. She was living with her grandma because her dad had abandoned Liv her entire life since her mom had died. As soon as her grandma dies of a heart attack she has to live with her dad. Eventually living with her dad means that her whole life will have to change.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - The Family She Never Had
In my own opinion, Tender, is a detailed, engaging books for teens. It is great for young readers if they like in depth, page turning novels.

Tender is the story of fifteen year old Liv Trager who struggles living her life. Liv's mother passed away when she was just a baby and her father gave her up. She now lives with her adored Gran in New York, who passes away suddenly. Now Liv has to move to California to live with her stern father, Mark, who is practically a stranger.

On top of Liv's new life style, Mark needs Liv to help him out with his abalone diving job. Since his tender broke his arm, he needs Liv to keep tend for him. Once they are at sea, Liv is in control of her father's life. There is no turning back. Will Liv complete her job properly or let her father die?

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - [A] Review
This is one of the best books from Valerie Hobbs. It had a lot of unexpected twists and turns. The book started off fast and made you think before jumping into conclusions. The plot was nicely organized and well written. The characters were interesting and you could picture what they would look like. The wonderful beach setting made you feel like you were actually there, feeling the ocean breeze. Tender explains that no matter what you are going through the best will come out unexpectedly.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Is this REAL???? Has 2 be! "VERY Realistic "
I <3ed reading this story since Liv kinda reminds me of myself & my friend....our personalities. I was sad at the end, about their realtionship...Do please read this book, if u don't it'll be your own damn fault. Hey i'll even get to say "I told you so!" ENJOY!!!!!! Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - A PLAY on WORDS and EMOTIONS
Valerie Hobbs is a master of her craft. Her greatest gift, perhaps, is the creation of vivid, memorable characters. This talent is clearly displayed in TENDER. Liv is a struggling, often impulsive teenager with rough, believable edges. Her beloved grandmother has just died, and she is forced to live with the father who deserted her at birth. She doesn't know him. She doesn't want to know him and certainly doesn't want to love him. But she becomes his "tender" on the fishing boat--he's an abalone diver. TENDER is the moving story of a relationship; it's also a powerful story about change, growth, and the power of love. Hobbs is unflinching writer -- she tells her truth and her characters breathe real air. TENDER is for teenagers, but adults will revel in it too.
