Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - My very first cookbook!
This was the very first "real" cookbook (as opposed to kids' cookbook) that I ever owned myself. I bought it when I went abroad to Ireland for a year, since there was a kitchen in my student apartment and no meal plan at the college there. This cookbook taught me a lot of simple techniques for quick meals. The recipes I've made to the letter are very tasty, and even better, they're a great jumping-off point. Once you know how to make their chili, for example, you can get creative and use different meats, add interesting seasonings, etc. Once you know how to pan-saute thin pork chops, you can do so with a whole variety of sauces or spices. I recommend this to anyone just learning how to cook, especially busy people and college students. It makes cooking seem like less of a daunting task and helps you get tasty stuff on the table in a short amount of time. It also has the invaluable sections on how to keep a kitchen that will make cooking less work: how to stock your pantry, how to organize your cabinets, how to stock your fridge, etc. It also has several great party menus in the back that make entertaining very simple. The tips for making things even faster and easier, or for getting more creative, are excellent as well.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - a blessing
My mother gave me this book after I complained to her that I found great recipes but never had the right ingredients. I especially love the section that tells you what to stock your cabinets with. I use it all the time and am still trying recipes. If you can't cook with this book, you may be hopeless. the lasgna is good, I had never made lasagna before and it came out great.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - WOW, WHAT A GREAT COOKBOOK!
I love to cook and own quite a few cookbooks. I recieved this book by accident, and thought it would be filled with gross recipes for food that required numerous cans of "cream of" soups. I was wrong, this has the best, easiest, tastiest recipes I have ever come across. Try the fish curry and the apple pork chops!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - If you're too busy to cook, this is a must have!
I've always been weary of cookbooks that promise speedy preparation and little effort. But this book delivers it all--everything you need in your cupboards, the best equipment for lazy cooking, great tips and short cuts, and, of course, delicious recipes--I've tried quite a few and one is better than the next!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - This book made me wanna cook!
and I have, bar none, the smallest kitchen in America. The writers tell you how to stock up your pantry with the right stuff so you can always throw something (good!) together after a long day at work; give you permission to not be so hard on yourself if everything isn't "from scratch"; and tell you how to set up your kitchen to make it more efficient. This book kicks ***.
