Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - The stories were better when they thought rather than fought
I grew up reading the original Hardy Boys books, so reading the books in the newest series is quite a different experience. In a few ways, the more modern situations are better, but there are some aspects of this story that I did not like. Iola Morton, Joe's best girl, was killed by a terrorist bomb and her brother Chet is now a bit player in the story. Frank is no longer attached to Callie Shaw, she is more a friend than a girlfriend. Frank and Joe no longer just hang out with their friends, they call on them only when they are really needed. There is not a single scene where they are just being teenagers.
In this story, Holly, the daughter of a local banker, is caught up in a cult whose head is called the Rajah. It is a cult that primarily recruits runaway teenagers with false promises of belonging and love. The cult has a well guarded compound and Fenton Hardy has tried to penetrate it in order to determine Holly's current state. He has failed, so Frank pretends to be a runaway so that he can enter the cult's compound. Frank manages to do that, but when Joe forces his way in and is captured, Frank is forced to blow his cover and rescue him.
The boys are then falsely accused of murder and are on the run from the law. They go back to Bayport where the Rajah's followers have gathered. It turns out that the Rajah has designs on many things, including robbing a bank, so his followers are mere pawns in a greater scheme.
One major difference in this book and the earlier books is that Frank and Joe act much more in the genre of a Steven Seagall or Jean-Claude Van Damme. They do not hesitate to plunge forward into danger, are much freer with using weapons and fight a lot. The villains are also much more eager to start shooting than those in the earlier books in the series.
Personally, I prefer the books where the Hardy boys solve their crimes by using their wits rather than their fists. Therefore, I consider this book a step backwards when compared to the earlier books.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - The Cult of Crime
My favorite book is The Cult of Crime. The Cult of Crime was written by Frank W. Dixon. This story is about two young detectives, Frank and Joe Hardy, that are trying to help a friend of their Father, also known as Fenton Hardy, find his daughter and help her home safely. The very first reason I like The Cult of Crime is because it has many external conflicts. For example Joe Hardy, brother to Frank, gets into a fight with Valvosta, a man of a cult and part of a scam, and almost dies. If it wasn't for his brother Frank, he would have been dead .Another reason why I like it is because not only dose it have external conflicts it also has internal conflicts. An example is when Frank, a teenage boy, has to decide if he should blow his cover and save his brother or to let his brother suffer and save his love Callie. Certainly you know why I liked The Cult of Crime. If not then I recommend you read it your self sometime.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome!!
The plotline might sound corny...but I dare you to put the book down once you've started! Frank and Joe are really beleivable detectives in this one...one of the Best ever in the series.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Beware of different religions. They could be deadly.
This exciting thriller contains the brilliant rescue of a girl named Holly from the clutches of a revengful half brother named Rajah. Hold onto your seat as you read this mystery, for it will take you to the untamed Adirondack Mountains of upper state New York, where evil lurks behind every corner
