Its a pity kids in the United States are unaware of this british author...its even more of a pity that many of her family-themed books are going out of print. Although written in the 1940s-50s, Enid Blyton books are very popular all over the world, esp. UK, India, Australia (and other colonies:-). To me, she is the original J.K Rowlings. she writes stories for kids so that they can remain kids and indulge in their childish fantasies. Her stories about pixies and goblins ("The pixie created a perfume for the queen by mixing a slice of rainbow, the sweet smell of a baby's breath...." Round the Clock tales)I read this book again (at the age of 40+) and am wonderstruck at how timeless and how wonderfully written books they are.
